2024, researchers from engineering education and human resources management in technological development laboratories conducted a thematic analysis of reported incidents to identify patterns, trends, and areas for improvement. The analysis aims to uncover the most common types of disciplinary incidents, underlying causes, and implications for the field in how engineering education addresses (or fails to address) these issues. Our findings identify recurring themes, analyze root causes, and offer recommendations for engineering educators and students to mitigate simi- lar incidents. Yet most universitycurricula still treat trust as a slogan— “be transparent, be fair”—rather than as anengineerable property revealed through systematic reasoning. , Health Innovation Professor in the Carle-Illinois College of Medicine, and Director of the Tissue Biomechanics Laboratory. She also serves as co-chair of the Integrative Imaging Theme of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. Her research focuses on the use of experimental and computational methods to evaluate the interdependence of mechanical, compositional, structural properties of bone, ligament, and tendon to investigate the progression and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases. Her work has been funded by NSF, NIH, and industry/foundation sponsors. She has received awards from the US and Australian Orthopedic Research Societies and the Beckman Foundation in recognition of her scholarship
