Of these, 416 were inmechanical engineering, 432 in electrical engineering and 52 in aerospace engineering [17, p.100].Slaton chronicles the history and continuing legacy of racism against Black students inengineering [18]. Black students at PWIs face the particular challenge of being under representedon campus and in their classes, which can lead to stress, lower grades, isolation, and exhaustion[19]- [22].
