Students were then asked to interview non-engineers to get feedback on theperception of engineering decisions accounting for end user perspectives. This was followed upwith a final assignment in which students reflected on watching portions of an ASEE sessionpanel of activists giving their experiences around specific engineering crisis (CommunityEngagement Panel, 2019). The voices of stakeholders in these last two assignments are intendedto move

Furthermore,BME specific programs typically encompass the entire multidisciplinary field, which requiresimplementation of a wide variety of projects [11, 12].To provide a low-cost and scalable approach to introduce BME applications to high schoolstudents, the authors developed a BME high school summer program that was piloted in thesummer of 2019. Aimed at introducing students to the BME field, the program focused onintroducing neuroscience and neuroengineering principles using low-cost and open sourcematerials. Objective:To determine the efficacy of this approach, the following research questions were posed:1) Is it

Implementation and test data analysisFrom week #8 in the Fall semester 2019, we started lecturing about trusses, frames, machines, and beams. In that week, the design-build-test-redesign wooden structure project was released, and students were asked to form their teams with two to three team members. The restraints &conditions, testing procedure & conditions and evaluating criteria of the design projects wereexplained and discussed during lectures. They had approximately 3 weeks to apply the conceptsand principles of force analysis on a truss and a frame to generate some conceptual designs andthen to pick the best one for constructing a wooden structure. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women make up only 15.9% of the totalengineering and architecture workforce (Employed Persons by Detailed Occupation, Sex, Race, and Hispanic or Latino Ethnicity, 2019). This creates an issue, as STEM peer contact correlateswith STEM retention among females (Hilts, Part & Bernacki, 2018).
