effectiveness of the Capstone project course is the course’saverage numerical evaluation across all sections. Each section is reviewed for overall weightedaverage for all questions specific to the course. Then these averages are gathered and averaged tofind the mean score for the course itself. For academic year 2018-2019, the course averaged 4.11on a 5 scale. This was the transitionary year. In subsequent years, 2019-2020 was 3.83, 2020-2021 was 4.03, 2021-2022 was 4.21 and 2022-2023 averaged 4.14 [Table 4]. The evaluations in2022 and 2023 show a slight increase from 2020 and 2021. This data is crucial to understand thespan of five-year influence along with identification of the average increase (or decrease) at thetime the unified syllabus and

ofpreparation decreases the likelihood that graduates will obtain these competitive positions.Providing more focused preparation can also reduce barriers to entering academia, increasingboth the number and diversity of qualified candidates. To provide students with such preparation, a seminar series was offered in Spring 2022 andSpring 2023 and was organized and co-taught by two or three faculty members as a serviceactivity and not part of their teaching load. SEA consisted of three topic areas: (1) informationabout academic careers and pathways, (2) application process and materials, and (3) interviewprocess and expectations. For the first two topic areas, most of the seminars were led by the co-instructors, while for the final topic area of the series

Around 40%reported working over 50 hours per week, and around 18% reported working over 60 hours perweek [39]. These figures are troubling. Combined with 47% of the students surveyed reportingthat a work-life balance is extremely difficult for them, it paints an image of graduate studentsfeeling overworked.During my time at ABC university

Thus far, our results indicate that this program will be beneficial to studentswell after regular programming resumes at full capacity. GREaT GradS was designed to servegroups of graduate students who are typically marginalized within science with an eye towardretention through support and mentorship. The overall goals were to provide (1) ResourceRecognition by introducing students to the various academic and personal resources available oncampus, (2) Personal Preparation through programming on subjects such as personal finance andmental health, (3) Career Preparation through writing workshops and curriculum vitae editing, and (4) Network Building by connecting students
