out a compliment to a woman who did a good job on a project. It’s like we have to make sure women are humbled…You go to the end, you work hard on this project, it’s great, great, great, and someone craps on it. Even if you don’t want to take that to heart, it still hurts, it’s still there.” – JenniferThere was a general sense that older white male design professionals, who were often invited asguest review panelists, did not facilitate a culture that was positive toward women and studentsof color. However, professors held these design professionals in high regard and continued toplatform them as examples that students should look up to.6. DiscussionGrant et al. workforce [4], while in Canada only 20% of engineeringstudents were women in 2022 [5]. In France, women represented 23% of the engineering studentpopulation, compared to 63% in social sciences and law [5]. Similar underrepresentation wasobserved in the United States and Malaysia in 2019 with engineering being viewed as incompatiblewith women’s identities (personal and professional), and incompatible between family life andwork [6]. This underrepresentation of women was further verified within specific engineeringmajors. A survey conducted on 974 students in Atlanta, United States, revealed that Industrial andChemical Engineering had the highest female enrollment [7]. In contrast, a survey of 531 womenin Taiwan highlighted Mechanical Engineering as
