skills while applying these transferable skills in their classrooms andfuture careers. To assist engineering GTAs in honing their teaching skills, the research team developed agraduate teaching and leadership course. In Spring 2022, the Technological, Pedagogical, andContent Knowledge (TPACK) survey was used to assess the impact of the course on the GTAs’TPACK. Although it was found that the course positively impacted the GTAs’ TPACK, the teamdid not assess the impact of each of the course’s modules on the GTAs’ learning. This follow-upstudy addresses the critical need for effective pedagogical development among engineeringGTAs, focusing on the assessment of Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) and Pedagogical ContentKnowledge (PCK). Both problems were presented as multiple-choicequestions with follow-ups asking students to explain their reasoning. The control group (N = 59, Fall 2021-2022) consisted of students who were never required to draw vectorpolygons in Statics. The experimental group (N = 45, Fall 2023) took Statics with the same instructor and,in addition to being exposed to the same content and expectations, was required to draw vector polygonsin Statics tests. The intervention consisted of a 20-minute-long workshop during the first week of classesfocused on drawing force polygons to scale. In this workshop, one step-by-step example was presented toand discussed with the students. Then, students were invited

The American Trucking Associationpredicts that freight costs will increase 50% from 2021 levels by 2032 [2]. Yet, the sectorremains the least automated and most labor-intensive transportation mode, causing high fatalitiesand pollution. Medium-duty and heavy-duty vehicles consume over 20% of energy and create23% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from transportation [3, 4]. Trucking caused 20% ofworkplace deaths in 2019 more any other industry [5]. Besides having the 7th highest fatalityrate, long-haul drivers also suffer other work-related illnesses [6]. intrinsic and extrinsic motivation [14].When students engage in project-based learning, their need for autonomy can be met as theyactively engage in tasks that promote learning, develop their cognitive capabilities, fostercollaboration amongst peers, and when they receive the right scaffolding from faculty [15].This paper directly builds on a study carried out with the students of Ashesi University whoparticipated in a first-year design-oriented course in 2022 [7]. That study commenced anexploration of the three constructs brought into view – self-efficacy, self-determination andagency, and it revealed the need for relying more on existing validated surveys. Here, a revisedset of scales is used to explore the relevance of these constructs through a
