After addressing lingering technical and simulation issues, a cohort of sevenadditional thermodynamics instructors from a diverse range of engineering colleges joined theteam as codesigners and initial users. Along with the authors and developers, these additionalinstructors met in Chicago in early Fall of 2023 for a full day working meeting to learn about theproject, explain their unique needs and contexts, and to inform the future design anddevelopment efforts. Following the meeting, each instructor facilitated small pilot studies of theVR-based ThermoLab application with approximately 5 students. These efforts aim not only to maintain curricular relevance butalso to enhance student retention and academic progression.In 2017, the program introduced a revised curriculum (DUN 2401-2016) and, in 2022, initiatedanother cycle of curricular innovation. As part of this process, evaluating the academictrajectories of students who enrolled in March 2017 is crucial in assessing potential gaps betweenthe intended curriculum design and students' progress. The findings from this evaluation willprovide valuable insights to guide the ongoing curriculum revision. University of Michigan in 2020 following a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Saint Louis University. From 2020 to 2022, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Colorado Boulder. She began her tenure-track faculty appointment at UIUC in 2023, where she teaches courses on solid mechanics and conducts research combining nonlinear solid mechanics, imaging, and extracellular matrix biology. In 2020, she received several research awards, including the Schmidt Science Fellowship, the Savio LY Woo Young Researcher Award, and the Ivor K.
