, Withdraw (DFW) rates for transfer students in both CS2 and CS3 also rose from Fall 2023 to Fall 2024. However, transfer students from our partner ELAC who were enrolled in CS2 achieved a 100% pass rate in both Fall 2023 and Fall 2024. Similarly, all but one transfer student passed CS3 during the same timeframe. Therefore, there have been no significant changes in the pass rates for these students. We plan to conduct further analysis of their academic performance, focusing on overall grades. ● Although DFW rates for CS2 and CS3 remain below 20% compared to the academic years 2020-2022, this preliminary data underscores the necessity of supporting students to enhance their retention in their first post

concepts relevant to design performance. In 2022, Jackson and colleagues conducted a systematized review of studies that conceptualizedfailure as an opportunity to learn [5]. Their inclusion criteria included empirical studies fromacross the STEM disciplines in K–16 (i.e., K–12 and university undergraduate) educationbetween 2008 and 2019, resulting in a selection of 35 studies. They aimed to see what theresearch literature offered with regard to how students experience design failure and the “keyelements in making failure a learning experience in design” (p. 1855) [5]. Jackson et al.identified five broad themes from the studies, three of which directly related to learning, i.e. thatfailure can help students learn key concepts; failure “induces
enriching the environment for all members, is essential (Pollock, 2022). This requiresindividual and collective efforts to reflect on behaviors, policies, and practices that either hinderor promote inclusivity. In summary, the overarching goal is to cultivate an environment within ASEE and the wider fieldof engineering education that is welcoming, inclusive, and respectful of all forms of contribution. This approach not only enhances the field but also encourages a broader spectrum of careerconsiderations among graduates and professionals, ultimately leading to a more dynamic andeffective engineering education landscape.Next stepsWe wish to activate interest and forge a nascent community of engineering educators who havechosen, are curious, or dream
audience personas as a pedagogical tool for audienceanalysis in a 2022 paper, tying together ideas from consumer marketing, customer personas, audience analysis, and consumer narratives [32]. Her paper describes an activity in whichstudents create personas and analyze their audience through this process. This paper isfoundational to current research in using personas for teaching communication and audienceanalysis. However, this paper only presents persona creation as a tool and does not study itseffectiveness in teaching communication.Communication education across curriculums has embraced the use of scenario-based learning.Specifically in medical fields, scenario-based learning is used to teach students how to engagewith patients to get better
