GrowingOverall, the engineering occupations are projected to add 136,500 jobs through 2022. They willcontinue to be needed to design, build, test, and improve manufactured products. However, during this time, increasing employment of engineers in service industries, research anddevelopment, and consulting should generate most of the employment growth [1].The 2015 National Science Foundation’s Survey of Graduate Students and Post-doctorates inscience and engineering [2] found that from 2008 to 2013 STEM graduate students in the U.S.who were U.S. citizens or permanent residents rose 3.1%. Of these, 25.8% were Hispanic and7.8% were African-American.“Finding Your Workforce: Latinos in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)” [3]2015 report found

results validated in Matlab R2016a). The primary outcome measure was percentagefemale in the incoming orthopaedic residency class by residency year (𝑃"# ). Data were analyzedvia graphical representation (% female by year) and descriptive statistics. Results The results of our mathematical model (Figure 2) suggest that our outreach programmingefforts will increase the rate of women in orthopaedic residency to the critical threshold of 30%[11] within the next 6 years (by 2022) and eventually reach a plateau of 45% female within 10years (by 2025). If we assume worst-case conditions – that is, we underestimate the rates ofmatriculation from our program into orthopaedics – we will achieve 30% female within 10 years, and this will be the

Technology emphasis in Cyber Security. c American Society for Engineering Education, 2016 Cybersecurity Camp - A Call for AwarenessAbstractThe demand for cybersecurity analysts and awareness is increasing, the employment ofinformation security analysts is projected to grow 37 percent from 2012 to 2022, much fasterthan the average for all occupations. Today, women represent just 10 percent of thecybersecurity workforce. Thus, to increase the amount of people going into cybersecurity, primarily women, we must start at the base: schools. There, we can emphasize the need for beingcyber savvy and also address the need to have balanced teams of men and women. In 2015, we hosted a Girls Cybersecurity Camp

It suggests that CSRmay be a fruitful arena from which to illustrate the profoundly sociotechnical dimensions of theengineering challenges relevant to students’ future careers.IntroductionThe ongoing boom in energy and mineral development is calling increasing numbers ofengineers into work in the mining and oil and gas industries, especially as the primary cohort ofmining and petroleum engineers reaches retirement.21 The Bureau of Labor Statistics forecaststhat the ranks of petroleum engineers will expand 26% by 2022 and mining and geologicalengineers 12% by

Our BME undergraduate program at the Universityof Wisconsin-Madison, which has historically encompassed sophomores and above, has morethan doubled in the last five years. This year, our college has moved to a direct departmentadmission model adding an additional surge of freshman directly to the program (78% morestudents) with progression requirements versus a secondary application. In an effort to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for these 240 freshman, we havedeveloped a mentorship program integrated with our design curriculum. Also, what isthe perception of industrial engineering job opportunities by incoming engineeringstudents? This paper analyzes and compares the results from 3 surveys administered bythe University of Arkansas. It will 1) explore survey results for students interested inindustrial engineering to help gain insight on

We will discuss both benefits and potentialpitfalls of this restructuring. Finally, retention data and trends will be discussed with someconclusions.IntroductionEngineering programs at universities and colleges across the country are faced with increasingdemands for high quality engineering graduates to meet the government’s goal of producing onemillion new STEM graduates by 2022 1. In support of this goal, the National ScienceFoundation has budgeted $135 million for 2016 to support the retention of STEM students 2 withadditional support coming at the state and university level. student support services were important in getting a student to transfer, indicated that transfer-ready STEM students who were younger, have earned transferable credits between 60 and 90, and have accessed some level of STEM-specific support services were more likely to transfer to a 4-year institution within a reasonable time frame.1. Introduction According to a federal report issued in 2012, the U.S. needs to have an additional one million STEM graduates by 2022 in order retain historical preeminence in science and technology1. This is an increase of about 34 percent annually over the current rates. The report, along with the federal 5-year STEM strategic plan released in 20132, also proposes that improving retention at

The fall 2015 enrollment is 18 freshman, 5 sophomores, andone junior. We expect a small number of graduates in 2018, with the number growing to 20 or 25per year by 2022. The program goal is to remain a small, high-touch program.1 This statement does not imply that all software engineers should have an engineering background. There are many pathwaysto software engineering, and many different careers with different requirements.2 It is currently accredited under the school’s ABET accreditation. Once there are sufficient graduates, it will be accredited insoftware

Therefore, one characteristic ofthe seminar is its interdisciplinary blend of attendees. The course is named “CO2-Emissions,Climate Change and Climate Policy”. It discusses a topic of special political interest in Germanyas the Federal Government decided for an exit strategy from nuclear power after the Fukushimadisaster in 2011. By the year 2022 all German nuclear power plants have to be shut down anddismantled. Concerning CO2-emissions the nuclear power is seen as a clean technology, nevertheless major groups of the general public are not in
