He received his B.S. degree in Power Mechanical Engineering from National Tsing Hua University in 1978, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1985 and 1988, respectively. He joined the School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma in 1992
