regarding active experimentation[7]. Open-ended laboratory courses or even traditional classes with experimentation exposure have shownto provide greater learning value as compared to the traditional lecture only focus [2,8]. Such coursesemploy an approach to learning science that are backed by a significant body of work on research-basedand active pedagogies in various engineering disciplines as well as have demonstrated superior levels ofstudent engagement and learning. Introduction of real-world problems not only allows students to masterappropriate techniques and technologies, but also allows the students to design strategies for solvingproblems and practice an overall process of inquiry [9-10]. Since experimentation is so critical to

. Atotal of 31 students took part of the first implementation of this specialization semesterfrom two different campus in a regional format with activities in two different locations. The instrumented bridge was tested using a designed experiment with loading tests. Thedata acquired during the tests was then analyzed by students and it was used to calibratea Finite Element Model of the bridge in order to evaluate its structural health state. Sixdifferent instructors and professors participated during different modules of thesemester, some in laboratory tests and others in lectures and research. The educationaloutcomes sought during the design of this specialization semester were achieved withvery positive results that are included in detail in the

, it functions as a dynamic, living laboratory, providing a conduciveenvironment for students to delve into and comprehend the fundamental biological mechanismsintrinsic to their academic pursuits. This architectural engineering design installation not onlyfurnishes practical insights into plant physiology, pertinent to domains such as bio-materialengineering and pharmaceutical applications, but also enriches the pedagogy of engineering.Students harness their understanding of statics, materials science, and computer-aided design(CAD) to engineer a structurally sound framework conducive to optimal plant growth. Throughexperiential learning in machining and design, they acquire tangible skills transcending meretheoretical comprehension. The team

architecture project, that provides safetylevels to the users according to the different codes appliable to the structure according to itslocation and use.The best way to get related with the structure and its elements is at the construction site, even tough the laboratories are really helpful, is in the action field at the construction sitewhere we can live and understand the structure and its behavior. The construction site visitsare a fundamental tool in the development of the competencies that the university is tryingto develop in the students. It is also necessary that the students identify the reason why, the designs that come from astructural analysis, must be feasible to be constructed and adapted to the available systems, tools and procedures in

universities that use quarter systems versus semester systems, there are also other alternative systems for counting hours. While the typical U.S. system countsonly hours per week for traditional fall-spring semester courses, there were differences within theU.S. programs. California uses a system which accounts for time in class and expected timespent working on coursework outside of the classroom. The majority of the programs offer a 4-year degree. There are 6 programs which require 5-years for an undergraduate degree instead ofthe traditional 4-year degree. Also identified were disparities in reporting Lab hours versus Tutorial hours. The U.S. semestersystem allows for up to 3 hours in a laboratory-style course to count as 1 hour. In Canada

works that arereviewed and criticized in a public way among them, On the other hand, even thoughcivil engineering students are also evaluated individually, there is a slight group work insubjects that require laboratories, an activity that is reflected in the reduction of theaverage of individualism as opposed to architecture students. From the results of table 3, we obtain interesting data since the means between bothstudy groups are close to each other, thus there is no significant difference in terms ofindividualism and even though both careers are still on the higher side of the spectrum, there is a greater similarity. These results may be due to how these students had theireducation during the pandemic, being students who had most of their
