2008, the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) conducted an 18-monthsocial study to better understand the public view of engineering, leading to the publication ofChanging the Conversation. ACE inhibitor drugs benazepril and cilazapril and two cases of patientkidney function (KF): normal and impaired. To provide a simulation tool for our target audienceof educators and students, we created an interactive graphical user interface (GUI) in MATLABfor manipulating the input parameters under various scenarios and viewing the dynamic modeloutput on plots (Figure 1). We packaged the model code, GUI, and the parameter sets into aMATLAB app that enables a single download for all the associated files for the model and theGUI. We have made app freely available online30. After download, the program opens with oneclick from the app panel in MATLAB.
