Two groups that are particularly relevant to civil engineers arethe American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the National Society of ProfessionalEngineers (NSPE). Both groups have a code of ethics. A review of these codes reveals thatASCE and NSPE members are not ethically bound to be licensed; in fact neither code of ethicsdirectly mentions licensure [7], [8].
