given system to allow a mathematical or numerical solution to be obtained. Material propertydata, experimental results and information on the characteristics of various devices are alsoincorporated in the overall model to obtain realistic results from the simulation. The results fromthe simulation are used to determine if the design satisfies the requirements and constraints of thegiven problem. The mechanical engineering capstone senior design program emphasizes several important skillsthat are necessary to be a successful engineer. Some of these skills include project planning andscheduling, creativity and concept generation and evaluation, decision making, analysis tools, prototyping and testing, standards and regulations, engineering ethics

pinpoint the areas where the trainee lackscompetency in a fraction of the time of what current assessment methods would need on similartasks. The comparison map highlighted that the trainee had the necessary competency in regardsto the actions needed for a successful change plan. However, lacked the knowledge of theprocess flow to implement the strategy. This helped the trainer identify where they would needto focus in order to follow up with the trainee and bring up their competency to the desired level.ConclusionsAssessing training effectiveness and transfer is crucial for organizations (Zumrah et al. 2013;Kirkpatrick, 2004; Gomez-Mejia et al., 2001). However, since current methods of trainingassessment are time-consuming (Rothwell, 2007), new

One example of such a project involved improving early detectionof lung cancer, while another program had students working with Facebook to improve theAndroid application experience for users with slow network connections and limited data plans, which is common in some parts of the world.Kettering University (www.kettering.edu)At Kettering University, all students are required to complete a minimum number of co-op termsin order to graduate. Originally, when the university was owned and operated by General Motorsas General Motors Institute (GMI), all students’ co-op terms were spent at GM. Now, Ketteringpartners with a variety of

Safety Training Series and Certification (undergraduate engineering students)In the current academic year we have experienced growth in both I/U partnerships and inprogram delivery. We currently partner with over twenty-five (25) industries and have plans toexpand to include government agencies, industry associations, and other academic institutionalpartners.ConclusionsIndustry partnerships can be highly beneficial to colleges and universities. Sustaining suchpartnerships requires that clear policies and procedures be in place to mitigate any possiblefinancial risks. The creation of the Engineering New Mexico Resource Network has provided usan organizational structure to manage our challenges and the administrative strength to

burnertraversing system were the only major components from the second generation project that werere-used. This was not surprising because of the major change in the second generation constraintof having to be easily transportable by plane. Therefore, the project described here provided asignificant design challenge for the team because a major restriction of the second generationwas removed so more capabilities were now possible. The initial substantial progress on the project the summer before the official start and thefrequent communication between the adjunct and the intern increased the attainable projectgoals. The scope of the original plan for the third generation design was substantially increasedas more and more capabilities were added to the

One company was not satisfied with their student’sperformance; this student was taking classes in addition to pursuing the internship, which meantless than full-time work on the internship. In the future, we will specify during the applicationprocess that the internship is a full-time commitment. Our hope is that these initial internships will initiate long-term partnerships that will enable theinternship program to continue. In this vein, we plan scheduled a tour of the KrogerManufacturing facility during the fall semester for members of the UT Arlington student chapterof the Air & Waste Management Association.Internship Assessment: Student PresentationsOne of the objectives of the overall Engineering Sustainable

China's engineering standards and improvingthe internal system of engineering standardsInternationalizing China’s standards is important for shaping its national image, enhancing itsglobal discourse power, and enhancing China’s international prestige. Breaking the long-termmonopoly of the engineering standards market by European countries and the United Statesrequires the Chinese government to publicize China's engineering standards and engineeringculture at the national level. Although China has issued the Action Plan on Belt and RoadStandard Connectivity (2018-2020) twice, up to now the “going out” of Chinese standardshas been hampered by insufficient domestic preparation and international acclimatization. Therefore, the government needs to

But there aredefinite limits on the scope and duration of such covenants. Employers generally cannot use non-compete agreements to keep employees from practicing their trade or profession indefinitely. This is particularly true

Today’s work environment with rapid change and disruption demands anopportunity-seeking mentality and self-drive. This is also a point of potential conflict betweenGen Zers and Gen Xers. Just as the Next-Gen Leaders segment scored low on creativity andinnovation, the Next-Gen Engineers do as well. The fact that both groups score so poorly in thisarea should be a wakeup call for both educators and industry leaders to begin to address theseneeds. These findings suggest that educators and industry leaders should join forces to review currentcurriculum methods and develop an action plan to strengthen the creativity and

An assessment of theavailable employee skills at the company should be conducted in order to define the gap andanalyse future requirements for the personnel. Hiring recent graduates, who already haveknowledge in the technology, can then close the gap. In order to assure that the students willhave the necessary knowledge the company should establish the contact to these studentsalready before their graduation. Thus in case of Big Data solutions in the company’s portfolioand graph database technologies in the technology toolbox, the company might realize a needin a group

Each session brought around 20 students; thus, between80-100 students were exposed to these concepts every Friday.Figure 3 shows a simulator built for the Friday Academy sessions.
