background for employment with IBM7.Is this a breach of academic integrity and independence, or merely an instance that requiresfaculty to realign their teaching activities to suit the emerging job market? In the experience of the author, it is necessary to take into account the potential for conflicts ofinterest when engaging practitioners in the educational process. Those involved in curriculumdevelopment must be cognizant of the need for curriculum that is broad enough to suit asufficiently wide range of potential employers that will allow their students career flexibility. Inaddition to possible disagreement about expected educational outcomes, there may also bemisunderstandings about content and potential for bias. It is the author’s suggestion

toward integrated design and constructionenvironments that require a higher level of collaboration with project team members. As an attempt to remedy these needs, wiki-based group assignments were implemented in lieu oftraditional writing assignments. Wiki is a website that allows the easy creation and editing ofweb pages via a web-based editor. A good example is wikipedia.com. A group of registeredusers can freely contribute to the contents of wikipedia.com that is open to the public. Wikis areoften used to create collaborative websites, to organize research community websites, and todevelop educational web sites as a KMS. Key advantages of using wiki are collaborativeknowledge creation, self-regulated learning, and fast knowledge dissemination

first year has lead tocontinued interest from the construction community to be part of this program.IntroductionCapstone design courses are recognized as an important part of the Engineering curriculum.1 TheUniversity of North Texas Construction Engineering Technology program is a new program thathas recently graduated its first undergraduate class. Due to the small class size and newness ofthe program, it was necessary to determine an effective and economical way of meeting thestudents various needs in a capstone course. Larger universities divide their capstone classes intosections reflecting the student specialties, i.e. residential, commercial and heavy highwayconstruction. With the first graduating class at 16 students and the second to be

importantly, it can be assumed that there will be an expectationamong AEC professionals that construction curriculums will be integrating BIM skilldevelopment so that graduates will have developed competencies with BIM technology. However, in order to establish strategies for BIM skill development, documentation of the waysconstruction professionals are utilizing BIM could provide critical guidance for AEC educators.Purpose of the studySpecific skills can be associated with the level of BIM use. For example, small BIM skill setswould emphasize skill in generating accurate 3D that fully document a building or structure.Expertise with generating and storing information with a specific application such as Revit orArchiCad would have priority. In contrast

information technology.Introduction and BackgroundIn recent years, there has been increasing consideration given to integrated curricula by constructionengineering and management faculty and industry advisors. According to Hauck and Jackson5 eachproposal has tried to address core problems associated with an overly segmented curriculum and thelack of project based learning in different ways. A model proposed by Hauck and Jackson5attempts to teach construction management as a series of labs integrating the various constructionmanagement courses into an active, applied learning experience. Their integrated curriculumproposal for the construction management department is centered on the creation of seven project-based seminars. They are as follows

Civil Engineers (ASCE) developed a BOK related to civilengineering and defined it as “the necessary depth and breadth of knowledge, skills, and attitudesrequired of an individual entering the practice of civil engineering in the 21st century”. 7 TheEnvironmental Engineering BOK8 authored by the American Academy of EnvironmentalEngineers (AAEE) is described as “the knowledge and core competencies integral to theunderstanding and practice of environmental engineering”. Other engineering focused BOKscan be described in a similar manner. As a result of engineering BOKs developed to reflect necessary knowledge and abilities, engineering educators have looked to the BOKs when developing and defining curricula. TheComputer Engineering BOK9 authored by
