exploited afterthe COVID-19 pandemic, necessitates collaboration. Thus, teamwork skills should be adequatelypracticed in academic programs. The construction industry has been naturally dependent onteamwork as almost all construction work is performed in teams. This dependency is reflected inconstruction curricula through some team-based courses such as capstone, surveying or othercollaborative classes. In addition, project-based courses tend to accommodate team-basedactivities. A similar situation may exist in engineering programs; however, engineering coursesare traditionally defined based on an instructor-learner relationship. Therefore, defining team-based educational activities depends on the instructor’s approach. The current study

contributory courses and tools in the Final ConstructionEngineering Portfolio CourseStudents were given a list of conceptual and technical tools as part of the capstone coursedesign. The students were asked to choose the top five tools they believed would be the mosthelpful for the project, followed by the ones they considered least useful. Table 1 belowprovides a summary of the students' selections. Detailed tables of all responses can be foundin Appendix 2.Table 1. Courses and tools with the highest and lowest contributions to the portfolio course. # Most helpful (Frequency) Least useful (Frequency) Construction Scheduling and Deadline Risk prevention considerations. project, and overall course grades as aculmination of student course performance. Student surveys of the course's flipped learningformat provide an indirect assessment of student perceptions and were gathered for Fall 2022.Additional data will be gathered in future semesters, as will direct and indirect assessment datawhen students complete their senior capstone project.Furthermore, this paper presents a review of the literature discussing related research and thepedagogy of flipped learning. It provides a basis for the rationale of implementing flippedlearning in the university classroom and strategies for construction management programs. It is the authors’ intent to discuss this topic within the framework of the university constructioncost
