EngineeringAbstractThe Construction industry is a dynamic, demanding, and challenging workplace for the recentengineering graduates entering the workforce. The construction industry is evolving asglobalization continues to generate transformation in the industries. Therefore, educationinstitutions must evaluate and implement the changes in the curriculum that provide the industrywith a skilled workforce. Work-life Balance (WLB) has become a challenge to the industry asthe next generation understands that having WLB is a priority in their career. This study focuseson understanding the work-life balance's influence on the Millennium generation entering theworkforce. A survey was provided to 161 university students in the construction industry, andthe results

data (i.e., pre-, and post-surveys). This test is implemented if the differences betweenpairs of data are non-normally distributed [12]. The authors utilized SPSS to conduct theWilcoxon analysis with the confidence interval set to 95% and the maximum desired P-value of0.05. Furthermore, the scope of the combination learning module was graphically representedwith box plots to investigate the efficacy of the pedagogical approach to support students in fourdifferent areas: (1) solve problems in other courses; (2) brainstorm ideas for real-world problemsin their professional career; (3) educate peers about circular economy concepts such asdeconstruction and design for disassembly; and (4) implement the circular economy principle intheir

The focus of the coursewas virtual design and construction tools, workflows, processes, and information technology forconstruction. In this model, a full-time faculty member was embedded in the industry to leveragea live knowledge transfer learning environment that draws from real-time industry experiencesand training to bring direct career readiness and preparation into the classroom. TEAMWORK AS A CORE COMPETENCE IN CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING EDUCATION Saeed Rokooei, Raheleh Miralami, George FordAbstract The specialization of careers in various industries has created a multitude of professional networks that demand close collaboration between parties when working toward a common goal. Additionally, the exponential growth of information technology has evolved with the workflows among various entities involved in a project. Therefore, professionals in various construction or engineering positions must work with their peers closely to form teams. As an interpersonal skill set, the ability to work in teams is gaining

Education, 2023 Analysis of Qualifications for Entry-Level Positions in Construction ManagementConstruction management graduates must possess a mixture of technical, soft, and technologicalskills in order to fulfill their job responsibilities as a project engineer, estimator, field engineer, etc. at the start of their career. There is a lack of information on the exact skills that are requiredof a recent graduate to occupy these entry-level positions in the construction industry. This studyanalyzed job listings in order to understand most common qualifications expected of graduatesand their most common responsibilities in construction. The researchers qualitatively analyzed agroup of 40 companies that

engineering and construction industry lags behind other professions in theirdiversity, equity, and inclusion of women and racial-ethnic minorities [11], [12]. Researchindicates a significant factor deterring underrepresented minorities from pursuing construction-related careers is the lack of a sense of belonging. An individual’s perceived sense of belongingwithin a particular space can be influenced by the physical materials or “artifacts” within theenvironment. A study by Burgoon, et al. [11] suggest artifacts (e.g., art, signage, photographs)with exclusionary nonverbal messaging about “who is valued and who belongs” within aconstruction school may decrease students’ sense of "fitting in,” and reduce retention of womenand racial-ethnic students in

. Also, they stated that BIM should be taught earlier in their bachelor’s, as the earlier itcan be implemented, the better students can be prepared for their careers. Finally, studentsemphasized the importance of gaining more proficiency in BIM software during theirundergraduate education.ConclusionThis study thoroughly identified solutions that the AEC industries have developed forincorporating BIM in their engineering projects. Also, the study considered the perspective ofsenior students regarding how BIM was delivered during a Senior Design Class and throughouttheir undergraduate education at UA. It is also concluded that the AEC industry is utilizing thistechnology because it was proved that BIM is a solution to transform the traditional

stress and frustration. Sauter et al. in [13], made seven recommendations forpreventing work-related stress and they include 1) ensuring that the workload is in line with workers’capabilities and resources, 2) having a clearly defined work schedule, 3) clearly defining roles andresponsibilities, 4) clear communication about job security and opportunities for career development, 5)allowing for social interaction, 6) design jobs to provide meaning, stimulation, and opportunities forworkers to use their skills, and 7) participation in decisions and actions affecting their jobs. Therecommendation on ensuring that the workload is in line with workers’ capability and resources speaks tothe fact that the more knowledge resource an individual has the

Costestimating is required at all phases of a project irrespective of the project delivery methods. Studentsenrolled in construction-related programs must be trained on how to quantify, price, and bid projects justthe same way that practitioners do in real life. This requires crafting, designing, and teaching studentshands-on and immersive construction cost estimating
