resultsshowed higher student success with writing-intensive courses in developing critical writing skillsin a construction management course [2]. Challenges of developing writing skills amongundergraduate STEM curricula are addressed by Mayo and Wheaton [3] who state that writingassignments can be developed such that they assist students in connecting their technical work toreal-world applications. In their lesson plan, the students were expected to post their work on apublic platform encouraging students to produce quality work. Richards and Milanovicestablished partnerships with professional writing faculty, industry members and technicalcourse instructors to mentor senior design project students in effective writing through pairedteaching [4]. becoming a licensed Professional Engineer, it is highlyrecommended that students take the exam while they are still in college. To encourage and preparestudents for the FE exam, the authors plan to provide them with special tutoring and mentoring sessionson a weekly or biweekly basis, facilitated by experienced faculty members. This will help students to gaina better understanding of the exam topics and increase their chances of passing the exam successfully.NCCER - Engineering Design CertificationThe National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is a non-profit educationfoundation established by more than 125 construction CEOs and academic leaders. With curricula for over70 crafts offered in over 6,000 NCCER-accredited training

transformativerepresentation of a range of professional applications of communication skills that STEMprograms foster.IntroductionWhat if Alexander Graham Bell never told anyone about his idea for a telephone? What if HenryFord had not been able to communicate how he wanted to build cars to his initial investors? Whatif Steve Wozniak had not been able to communicate to Steve Jobs his plans to add a hard drive tothe original Apple computer? Becoming an engineer is a challenging task for any young person. However, it turns out that they may be facing an even greater task: developing the ability tocommunicate their ideas to others clearly [1]. Having a good idea is where engineering innovationstarts; however, having the ability to communicate that idea to others is a

©American Society for Engineering Education, 2023 Active Student Engagement in Learning using Virtual Reality Technology in Engineering Education to Strengthen Professional SkillsAbstractSeveral skills are needed and, most of the time, are required by the accreditation bodies as part ofthe preparation for entering the professional practice of engineering. Academic institutionsrequire vision, planning, and time and budget allocation to achieve these objectives. Students arerequired to produce solutions to meet the specific consideration. For that reason, practicalexperience in engineering principles is the key to enhancing student knowledge in engineeringeducation.Virtual reality (VR) technology can be implemented to simulate the real
