Beginning with the end in mind or “backward design,” aterm introduced by Wiggins and McTighe5, the course design process began by considering thesignificant understandings and skills first-year students need to gain prior to moving further intotheir respective ET curriculum. Based on this information, and in association with revisedBloom’s taxonomy6, the student learning objectives (SLO) for this course were updated toinclude the following. Gain awareness of electrical and computer engineering career opportunities. Reinforce critical thinking and problem-solving skills in engineering though team-based and hands-on experiences. Harness
