For example, when a participant described studentsobtaining professional skills through their participation in a student organization, the responsewas coded as “development of professional skills in student organization”. In the third phase, theresearcher grouped codes with similar meanings to understand the emergent patterns and nuancesin the data. Thematic analysis helped the researcher identify three themes and gain a deeperunderstanding of faculty members’ prevalent perceptions of student career preparation for eachskill.
