In addition to being a useful tool for collection developmentpurposes, citation analysis can also provide insights into the developing core literature ofemerging and interdisciplinary fields. Interdisciplinarity is frequently cited as a way to breakdown silos between disciplines and facilitate solutions to real-world problems. In this study,citation analysis was performed on references from PhD and master’s theses written byengineering graduate students affiliated with an interdisciplinary Fuel Cell Research Center(FCRC). The author is especially interested in determining the degree to which interdisciplinarityis reflected in the materials cited by graduate students
