Many starter kits on the market do notinclude inductors, and it is recommended that one or two inductors are added to such boxed kits.Each course differs in its lab planning, so beyond the purchased kits mentioned above, someinstructors would prepare the extra parts in a small bag, while other instructors would build anextra lab kit in a case. Using such extra lab parts, the students did not have to pick up the parts atthe beginning of each lab. This practice was not only sanitary but also timesaving. Theassociated challenge, of course, is that the instructors need to decide which components to use inthese labs before the semester starts.The

Note that a planned enhancement to this program also provides the userwith the ability to vary feedback gain and modality to study the effects of stability and settlingtime. Students wereexpected to develop an experimental plan to determine what data needed to be gathered and aLabView™ VI for data acquisition. During testing the tunnel fan speed was increasedincrementally. At each fan speed increment the group varied electrical load on the generatorwhile measuring wind speed, voltage, current, and rotational speed. Wind speed downstream ofthe wind turbine was measured using a Pitot tube and a differential pressure transducer. Windspeed upstream of the wind turbine was measured using a hotwire anemometer. a commonpain point for faculty: despite providing copious feedback, student writing was not improving.Students complete four 1-credit laboratory courses in their junior and senior years. In this study,we report on changes to three of these courses. Each course included three complex experiments.To make our changes, we reduced this to two complex experiments, carefully considering whichexperiment to omit based on student feedback and outcomes. We then introduced variants offeedback and revision related to two short technical reports. Each lab includes a prelab with a jobsafety analysis (JSA) and experiment planning, as required by ABET. Students complete theexperiment as a team and turn in a draft of their methods during the experiment

The 2017 Nation EducationTechnology Plan (NETP) of the U.S. Department of Education recommends that for every levelof education, institutions should utilize learning technologies to facilitate education anywhereand at any time [1]. Specifically, for the success of American postsecondary students includingstudents from diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, genders, age-groups, and learningneeds, the supplement of the NETP report includes recommendations for using thesetechnologies to leverage student-centered approaches of teaching and learning [2].
