In this article, adesign for a heat transfer experiment is described with the above points in mind. The experimenttargets the thermal lumped system analysis, which is typically covered in the heat transfer courseundergraduate mechanical engineering students are required to take. The lumped systemanalysis allows determination of the transient response of a thermal system undergoing coolingor heating from a given starting temperature.
