of the currently popular network simulators; within academia, commercial and industrialcommunities; that can perform analysis on Bluetooth are: Optimised Network EngineeringTools (OPNET Modeler)8 from OPNET and Network Simulator (NS-2)9 from the VirtualInternetwork Testbed project VINT.In this work, OPNET Modeler 9.1 along with SuiteTooth Model was used for the networksimulations. Few reasons for choosing OPNET over NS-2 were its features such as Page 12.131.3easier/Quicker Model Creation, flexible Model Development, Higher SimulationPerformance, Large User Community etc. SuiteTooth (Bluetooth Simulation Model Suite) isan open, modular framework

AC 2008-2323: EXTENDED ACTIVE LEARNING AS A MEANS TO LEARNSYNTAX IN PROGRAMMING LANGUAGESSteven Hansen, University of St. Thomas Page 13.599.1© American Society for Engineering Education, 2008 Extended Active Learning As A Means To Learn Syntax in Programming LanguagesAbstractActive learning is an education form that has gained much interest in recent years. Manyinstructors can come up with schemes that help students better learn algorithmdevelopment, program development, project management, and other aspects of neededskills in the computer sciences. In the past decade, I worked on the development of activelearning techniques to learn syntax. I find

used to provide a VPS(or container) to each student. In addition, students are allowed to retain their VPS throughouttheir academic career. Additional virtualizations are maintained on the server for faculty andstudent projects. As a result, the server has approximately 200 virtual containers on it.This number of containers is possible because on average, each is lightly used. In addition, theserver incorporates capable hardware and software. The hardware is from a commodity supplier, but includes four Intel XEON processors, 16 GB of RAM, and a 500 GB RAID. Thevirtualization software used for the first 3 years of its implementation was Parallel Corporations’Virtuozzo, but in the past year this has been replaced with OpenVZ as a cost-cutting

MonitoringAffordability and manufacturability were two key concepts that guided the design process. The firstphase of this project was to build a prototype Smart Cottage, but the ultimate objective was to buildmany of these cottages at an affordable cost. The reference cost was the HUD two-bedroom price limitof $104,000 for the Western Pennsylvania area.Universal DesignThe Smart Cottage for Seniors has been developed using Universal Design techniques that will insurea long lasting and comfortable home for seniors. The Universal Design features of the cottage are: • 1040 sq. ft. single-level floor plan • Technology channels embedded in walls during manufacture • Large bathroom with 5-feet turning radius

module for teachingGeographic Information Systems to civil engineering students within the context of a problemrelated to crash data analysis. This module is one part of a National Science Foundation Course,Curricula, and Laboratory Improvement Project in which GIS modules are being developed forseveral areas of civil engineering. The module was used as a laboratory assignment in atransportation engineering course. Two days later students completed both an objective multiplechoice quiz over the material covered in the lab and a subjective questionnaire. Quantitativeanalysis was carried out on the quiz answers and the Likert scale portion of the questionnaire. Aqualitative grounded-theory open-coding analysis was applied to the open-ended

component with each module of the CCNAExploration curriculum. Typically, it requires two hours per week for each module in a typicalsixteen week semester. Cisco Networking Academy provides students with lab projects either indownloadable PDF files or if they wish, student can purchase the lab textbook15 from CiscoPress. The proposed course curriculum also includes a lab component which is vital forunderstanding key concepts in each chapter. Ideally the lab should include Cisco routers andswitches to provide hand-on learning experiences, but Packet Tracer can be used to facilitate therequired learning if the instructor of the course is familiar with routers and switchesconfigurations. The lab projects can be mapped into the course learning outcomes

The specific requirements of application domainsas diverse as cell phones, printers, smart homes or network system monitoring must also beclearly delineated to ensure successful project completion. While system designers need to understand and incorporate these technologies in projects, instructional designers need to incorporate them in computer-oriented curricula to ensure therising generation of computer students is well prepared. This paper evaluates the wireless networking standards, Bluetooth and ZigBee. We discuss theintent of the standard developers, the pros and cons of each network type, appropriateapplications, and the future of these standards. Recommendations are made for presentation intechnological educational

Students are encouraged to read both books simultaneously.Grading PolicyIn order to complete the course successfully, student must pass the Security+ certification exam(85% or better). The course grade components are calculated as follows: 1. Thirteen Chapter Quizzes (40%) 2. Lab Projects (20%) 3. CompTIA Security+ exam (40%)ConclusionsRevising the Information Technology curriculum and keeping it current to meet the demands ofthe IT market remains a challenging experience. the field of digital forensics that encouragesinnovation and creativity, and embraces life-long learning. Academia is able to help inthe digital forensics field by providing more sophisticated tools and equipment. Evencommercially available equipment has addressed the need but further innovation could bespurred from the academic community. For example, a research project at MississippiState University using Field Programmable Gate Arrays was able to produce a tool thatwill image a hard drive, nearly, twice as fast as any commercial hard drive duplicator, and will perform some limited analysis as it images.7 Academia’s vast instructional andresearch resources should be used in any way possible to combat digital crime.Justification of

instrumental.Without doubt, technology has been the most influential force behind the growth in economy. The Business is placing greater emphasis in information technology. Traces of informationtechnology can be found from sales to marketing, to inventory, and to R&D. An integralcomponent of technology is that it is highly dynamic. Technology changes at a rapid rate and therate of change is increasing. The Java programming language is one such instrumental change that has taken the industry bystorm. Its introduction was followed by a huge growth in the computer industry. It is ironic, thatsuch a success would be caused by a failure. Java was a descendent of a failed project at SunMicrosystems in its attempt to get into the interactive TV business. From one

. Each development team prepared a test scenario based onthe main tasks that the primary Web site users were supposed to be able to accomplish. The professor (J. Fernandez) provided a questionnaire (usability survey) to be used byeach evaluator after the completion of the test scenario. This generalized questionnairewas standardized for use by all evaluators so that it could be compared with the Emogramassessments. Once the student completed the evaluation and the usability questionnaire,he or she was immediately administered the Emogram while targeting the student’sexperience with the Web site evaluated.During the work with the graduate student projects and associated evaluations, Fernandezfollowed the additional step within the protocol to
