comment, it seems the changes in the course helped the non-engineering studentsfeel as though they were able to contribute with the conversations in the end but they felt likethey didn’t know as much about the topic as the engineers. Using these comments from thestudents, improvements to the course were then made for the next time the course is taught tomake the engineers able to get more in-depth knowledge on alternative energy topics whileincorporating group research projects to help the non-engineers learn from the engineers oncertain basic topics, which will be discussed next.Improvements and Second Time TaughtRestructuring and overhauling of the course was performed before the second time the dialogueran. -winningintroductory engineering design process course in Germany. First, the US rising sophomoreengineering students joined second-semester freshman German engineering students in a week-long design project in Germany. American students learned that the German design method is awell defined procedure, leading to the best engineered product or process. While the Americanmethod generally tends to be more rapid to market, frequently with improvements made afterproduction begins. Then the US students toured ACHEMA 2012 in Frankfurt, Germany, as wellas numerous large industrial facilities to explore commonalities and differences between the twocountries’ industries and traditions. Finally, the US students participated in guided tours ofGerman historical and

Theenvironmental consciousness, the willing to work in teams, and etc, it is a long list but the mostimportant aspect of engineering formation is the strong knowledge of basic sciences and basicsciences of engineering because these are the tools that will enable the future engineer to performsuccessfully and more over it will give them the self confidence necessary to win. However thisis one aspect in the formation of engineers. Others are being examined and discussed and manyactions have been taking place in many institutions in order to form the engineer for the newwork environment [1].Among many projects in education field COPEC develops also

The truss bridge laboratory is a part of this onecredit hour course offered to the freshmen engineering students by the Civil and CoastalEngineering department. The purpose of the laboratory is to familiarize students with theconcept, theory and practical side of the civil engineering and is focused on aidingstudents in the process of making an informed decision for their futures. This paper isfocused on procedure of the laboratory as well as how the resulted data can be utilized inreal-life projects. After each team of 4-5 students build their truss, the truss is loaded untilit fails. Record of the failure load, score, and final score

Our focus in this paper is hybrid e-learning with virtual face-to-face delivery and will be referred to as hybrid e-learning. Furthermore, a variation of hybride-learning where students are given the choice of attending a class via a synchronous onlinedelivery system, as well as traditional face-to-face, will be referred to as flexible delivery. Therecommendations given in our work can enhance both traditional and distance learning schemesand can be used as an effective communication model for collaborative research-projects whereparticipants are not from the same geographical area.IntroductionClearly, the advancement

The challenges with both time and costs lead to less than2% of engineering students participating in semesters abroad.Costs and time challenges present obstacles to international collaborations; however, asShaurette (2014) states, “because the benefits of international collaboration are significant, creative solutions to implementation challenges for individual situations are justified” [7].Beyond traditional semester (or longer) abroad programs, other international opportunities existwith differing costs and time commitments. We discuss the program need, logistics, design, and evaluation results. Each year, sixnew students participate in the program; they are selected via a nation-wide competition. Ourprimary motivation for this program is to provide students with experience in internationalresearch and help prepare the next generation of U.S. competitive STEM workforce capable ofinnovation. Moreover, the students will develop soft skills such as teamwork, oral and writtencommunication, and time management. We would bedelighted to give you a copy of the entire study at the end of our session.Globalization is radically changing the way national economies around the world design, produce, distribute, and consume goods and services. Engineers are in the midst of this dynamicdevelopment. They use their knowledge of foreign cultures in designing products and servicesfor global markets. They often work in teams on projects with members from different continentsand cultures. They must be internationally mobile, whether physically or virtually. These requirements raise critical questions: Is tomorrow's

Writtenand oral communications skills, teamwork, marketing, leadership and project management skillshave long been recognized as valuable traits. This paper asserts, as a result of globalization andthe overall expansion of engineering industries across international borders, that there is a needfor a new, non-technical competency for engineering students in intercultural communication.Engineering educators should include this competency in curriculum in order to educate ourstudents as global citizens who are capable of working tactfully, graciously, and effectively ininternational settings. While other educators have found bases for courses and modules that address
