are drawn to engineering when theysee its potential for improving peoples’ lives and by integration of the social values that youngwomen care about with the emphasis on important and unique contributions to individuals and tothe overall society [6, 7]. Although many researchers point out that outreach as early as middleschool is important in embedding the idea that anyone can be an engineer, many universities donot offer many outreach programs to this age group because of the inexperience withage-appropriate pedagogy, risk management issues, and unknown benefits to the institution inrelation to the limited resources available [8]. Longitudinal studies suggest that special focus hasto be placed on generational aspects of Generation Y, and

is accompanied by an extended laboratory unit manual.Engineering work is undergoing significant structural changes, in part due to the information andcommunication technologies that are transforming our way of live, learning and working. Thesetechnologies make possible to optimize the society requirements, while changing education, through new programs, adapting the curriculum, online and virtual teaching [7, 8, 12]. Onlineeducation is becoming an everyday part of engineering education, with unprecedented increasesof breadth and scale of engineering education, while extending the reach of institutions and theeducation delivery to broader audiences. Remote engineering, maintenance, tele-service or e-maintenance is all catchwords for these

,before committing to a new game design, the Consistent Maritime Macro to Micro Economic(C3ME model) was developed to create a realistic and balanced data set from macroeconomiclevel down to freight rates and cargo movements. This would support both a simplification of thecontext while maintaining realistic relations [23, 24]. The output of this model forms thefoundation on which the current game was developed.Figure 1: Timeline of the maritime business game developmentThe current game is provided in different programmes in slightly different forms. In allprogrammes, the Maritime Business Game performs an integrating role [23]. In most cases at theend of a set of supporting courses, but in two cases it is provided at the start to provide a frame
