a recruitment tool for graduate school.Community college students in the program showed an increase of 25% in interest for pursuing amaster’s degree and Ph.D. degree. Before the program, three participants were planning topursue their master’s degree, and two participants were planning to pursue their Ph.D.Following, all four participants were planning to pursue a master’s degree, and three participantswere planning to pursue a Ph.D. In Figure 2, students’ graduate school choice, the field, andacceptance rate were most influenced by the REU Program. The other part was the development of anundergraduate research plan that would help SAC students relate their NASA-sponsored researchwith STEM course content and classroom activities.
