Arkansas-specific course, the high-level requirements would be to 1) allow students to build and make simple measurements of DCand AC circuits (including amplifiers and filters) and 2) acquire analog voltage signals anddigitize them for subsequent analysis. This can be accomplished using simple components and abreadboard, a programmable Arduino board with analog and digital in/out capabilities, andinexpensive disposable EKG leads. Students could still work in teams, but a standardizedapproach that allows students to work asynchronously would facilitate collaboration. Studentlearning theory has demonstrated the value of hands-on learning in undergraduate science labsand can guide more effective instruction within the scope of Biomedical Engineering

Vibrations experimentsusing other commercially available turn-key apparatuses may be found in Ruhala [15]. The goalof the present research is to drive down the cost and complexity of the device so that it can beused by students at their desks or in their dorm rooms, requiring only battery power.For lumped, translating systems, harmonic excitation is most easily accomplished throughoscillatory motion.
