through teaching their peers.Preliminary Results and Early Impact Indicators Since 2019, MSI has recorded a 300% increase in makerspace visits, growing fromroughly 1,200 to over 3,000 annual sign-ins during the calendar year of 2023. This rise in usageis notable given the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and reflects the increasingdemand for community-driven, experiential learning opportunities. Among first-year engineeringstudents, anecdotal feedback from partnered programs consistently highlights their students’feelings of surprise, empowerment, and belonging especially among under representedpopulations within the SoE.
