Even though it may take them more time, they are determined to succeed because of all the professional skills they learned through real life: ethical hard work attitude, resourcefulness, perseverance, and grit. After discussion within the project team and with the program officer, the team put together a mechanism of renewing scholarship from year to year and a selection rubric. As a built-in accountability measure, all scholars need to apply for the scholarship and go through the same selection process each year.
