Another research interest of Kristen’s is engineering education, where she explores how project- and experience-based learning foster better understanding of engineering and management principles. Prior to joining ASU, Kristen was at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) as a Postdoctoral Fellow (2009-11) and then a Scientific Engineering Associate (2011-2012) in the Building Technologies and Urban Systems Department. She worked in the Commercial Buildings group, developing energy effi- ciency programs and researching technical and non-technical barriers to energy efficiency in the buildings industry. Domestic Undergraduate Research Experiences1. IntroductionThis paper presents the results of a study that examines how international and domesticundergraduate research experiences affect the intercultural maturity of students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. This question is timely given theincreasingly multinational nature of research collaborations. In its 2014 Science Indicators, theNational Science Foundation (NSF) reported that 35% of U.S. articles published in 2012 wereinternationally coauthored, up from 32% in 2010, with U.S.-Japan coauthored papers comprising7% of this total. Internationally coauthored papers in science and engineering now comprise one-fourth of all papers worldwide.1 The percentage of U.S

especially on ECE aspect of the renewable energy. Forthis reason, we ended up with combining three different books[5-7]. We faced the similarchallenges when trying to add lab activities to the course. After searching for some well-knowneducational technology companies[8-10], we found ourselves at an awkward situation, on one handwe don’t have enough fund to purchase advanced well-developed/equipped lab benches, on theother hand the ones within our budget don’t serve the learning objectives of the course well. There are many published papers in the field of renewable energy education[11-16] with some ofthem addressing the broad scope of renewable energy[11, 12, 14] and the others presenting labactivities for mechanical engineering or non-engineering
