the rubric. Modify the rubric as needed. Proceedings of the 2011 North Midwest Section ConferenceWe use rubrics consistently in our EET program, but as we go through our continuousimprovement process, we often see that the rubric we are using is measuring the wrong aspectsof what we want, or is the wrong kind of rubric. We continually are reassessing how we measurestudent progress.Bibliography1. ABET. 2011-12 Criteria for Accrediting Engineering Technology Programs. IntroductionAs John Dewey, a well-known educational theorist, emphasized1, “hands-on learning such as labexperiments are essential in education experience.” This principle was challenged whenproviding remote/virtual mode of instructions due to the COVID-19 situation was forced. Thiswas stated in Alexander et al.’s report 2, “Higher education is no longer simply being asked tochange. Change will be forced on it, and not just from the impact of Covid-19.”The challenges on the lab courses were highlighted by Woodley et al. 3, “The challenge is tomove lab courses quickly online and still meet the learning objectives, which exists in all

with calipers, scales, pencil, and paper. Isometric sketches are producedto document this dissection process. Using the sketches and other data, the students make solidgeometric computer models of each part of the assembly. The parts are then assembled andmated together to illustrate the whole mechanical system. At this point a kinematics simulationof the mechanical assembly could be made. The students next generate .STL files of eachindividual part. These .STL files are transferred to the JP System 5 prototyping system andphysical mock-ups of the parts are constructed. To culminate the experience, the team producesorthographic engineering drawings of the parts. All of these graphical image s and documentation are arranged into a final written

One researcher read reflections sequentially by student bycategory and identified salient patterns across participants. For example, Reflection 1 fromStudent 1 in the top 10% increase category was read first, followed by Student 1’s Reflections 2and 3. Then, Reflection 1 from Student 2 in the top 10% increase category was read, and so on.A second researcher read each reflection to determine similarities and differences incharacteristics and analyze patterns across reflections. This research team member readreflections as they were written chronologically within each category. All Reflection 1 samplesin the 10% increase category were read
