Exams with astoryline have also held students’ attentionwith 46% reporting that they had toldsomeone outside of engineering about takinga themed exam.Nineteen students rated exams with a storyat 90 or above (eleven 100’s), indicating astrong positive response. Analysis ofVariance (ANOVA) and Pearson‟s correlation were used to study the relationship betweencontent knowledge, self efficacy, cognitive level, and critical thinking level.It was found that critical thinking and self efficacy scores are positively correlated with eachother, but neither is correlated with the student‟s course grade. In addition students who statedthat they believed they would earn an „A‟ in the first year course performed significantly betterin critical thinking. Critical thinking and self efficacy scores did not have a correlation withoverall course grades, which suggests that course grades may not be the best method for definingthe quality of a
