To this end, the study’s methodology included capstone team membersand collecting follow-up written surveys; team composition and team projects in all requiredAE and ME courses were also documented and patterns identified.The research revealed a clear gap between what was required from
a collaborative, crossdisciplinary environment in which Art and Design students integrate coding and algorithmic thinking in creative works and in which Computer Science students apply the principles and methodology of design thinking to visual applications. The minor is composed primarily of existing courses with the addition of a twoquarter long capstone project, in which teams of students from mixed educational backgrounds work together to make a final creative, technical project. . During senior capstone design courses, electrical engineers capturedthe three-dimensional motion of art students as they “painted” in three-dimensions. A secondengineering group teamed with music majors to analyze the motion of music conductors [10].These types of projects provide engineers with a greater appreciation for the humanities, andgive humanities majors a better understanding of how technology can be incorporated into theirown disciplines. We have also had success in having multi-disciplinary collaborations in capstone designprojects; these were year-long collaborations between kinesiology and engineering students [9].Our current project was on a much smaller scale and involved disciplinary courses with specificlearning

This paper promotes research-informed service-learning approach inproject-based service-learning by integrating research into service-learning through education. Inthis paper, examples of research-informed practice for university graduate and undergraduateprojects are given, and service-learning is discussed as a powerful tool in education.
