New York University BSCE is defining andimplementing an integration concept that enables program control and continuous improvement.Program design and continuous improvementOne of the simplest ways to design a process to meet regulatory or accreditation purposes is tofind examples of best practices, in this case, ABET self-study reports. [17] Several difficultiespresent themselves, and the first is the confidential nature of the process and data. ABET statesthat … “All information supplied (in the institutional self-study report) is for the confidential use of ABET and its authorized agents. It will not be disclosed without authorization of the institution concerned, except for summary data not identifiable to a specific
Society for Engineering Education, 2021AbstractArchitectural Engineering is a established in US as a separate discipline from civil engineering andarchitecture. However, that is not true in South Asia. This paper intends to explore the current state-of-the-art of architectural engineering education in south Asia. In South Asia the Sir J.J School ofArchitecture (originally called the Government College of Art) in Bombay was the first modern schoolto introduce a structured course in architecture. In its initial years the one architectural event to capturethe imagination of the profession was the building of the Capital city of New Delhi by Lutyens. Manyof the faculty, such as Claude Batley, while intellectually sympathetic to the need for an Indian
realistic constraints.Recognizing the genuine benefits of real-life industry exposure, CUNY has responded to these findings witha limited series of grants [9] across its 17 schools to motivate faculty to implement such industrial learningin new and existing coursework. Although these efforts are commendable, they occur in small stepinitiatives, are limited in deployment, scalability, and continuity.METHODOLOGYProfessional and Interdisciplinary SkillsWe took an initial qualification assessment and social personality inventory of our student prior to hisselection to ensure he was well matched for this type of learning. Matching students to the job setting, is akay factor to any authentic experiential settings. Each product development stage, our
retreat. These efforts yielded increased awareness ofDEI issues amongst the faculty, numerous changes to departmental policies and practices, and anenhanced sense of community between students. However, efforts from semester-to-semestervaried. But as the new cycle of 2020 raged during a global pandemic, our department – likemany others across the US – redoubled efforts to make progress on several DEI fronts.Institutional Support StructuresOver the course of the last year or so, our department, school, and university have revisedinstitutional structures to deepen support for DEI efforts. There is a now an Associate Dean forDEI at the school-level, and a liaison from each of the six departments in SEAS was appointed tosupport this role. The

they liked those lectures. The practice was continued with Zoom sessions while remote. One unexpected positive was that the students often emphasized different aspects of the topicsand made insightful observations that were new to the faculty. The negative flip-side of that wasthat it was more work for the faculty member to convey important points that the student did notcover, especially while having to “catch up” from the period that was “lost” to the studentlectures. Those words are in quotes because perhaps there is value in building in some flex timefor the “lost” time and perhaps the professor’s preconceived beliefs in which parts of the topicare most needed should be stretched. The low enrollment is important not only to facilitate
disciplineshave shown that it is possible for remote instruction to satisfy the required learning outcomes, while sustaining academic integrity [1]. Many issues affect how to realistically and efficientlyengage students while teaching remotely. This paper will look at some of these remote learningchallenges encountered at Engineering Technology program at Queensborough CommunityCollege [QCC] of the City University of New York [CUNY]. Presented here some of thetechniques and strategies employed to overcome the difficulties of remote learning at a minorityserving institution. Some of the challenges included how to engage learners with limited orinconsistent internet access, the strategies and decisions in using synchronous versusasynchronous delivery

devices are being adopted in households worldwide, theymust also understand that the security of IoT devices has become a significant concern forconsumers. The proliferation of IoT platforms in the market allows hackers to create new waysto infiltrate the user’s system [22]. Hackers are now exploiting the vulnerabilities on edge devicesand gateways from the IoT platforms to gain authorized access to systems leading to attacks andloss of private information.Purpose and Significance of the WorkThe primary objective of this project is to engage students with research at an early stage in theircollege matriculation process. We realized that students were more likely to commit to workduring the summer than the regular Fall and Spring semesters. Hence
quality documentation, managing time and expectations, and setting personalgoals and deadlines.Program SatisfactionDespite all the challenges, the participants report a high level of satisfaction with the programthat was better than the 2019 cohort. Women were generally more satisfied than men concerningthe faculty advisor. The most rewarding elements of the program reported was learning newskills and the excitement for pursuing careers in engineering. Frustrations were not related to theremote work rather challenges with the software and other research-related issues that are likelyto occur in any research setting.RET HighlightsKey Findings: Surveyed teachers participating in the program report increased confidence andknowledge in research
introduced a more effectivemethod for retention of information, the ability to interpret the data collected, and restructuring theprocess for better use of resources. Following these ideas as the basis for the next iteration, theideation stage has been fulfilled. The second iteration sought the improvement of the objectives set out by the previous iteration, which had addressed those following concerns by the introduction of (partial) automation. Theadoption of using a database and database management system (DBMS), along with working witha new group of team members, allowed for overall improvement of the progress report generationprocess. With the introduction of the second iteration, TCC had begun working with [several]Computational Science (CSCI
