, supporting even those students who did not directly vocalize the concern. Thisshows to the entire class that the instructor is on their team and wants them to be successfulin the course. In addition, faculty can send a personalized email to students with concernsand talk about specific ways to alleviate them. As multiple students often have the sameconcern, it helps save the response for future reuse. Student response to this approach isoverwhelmingly positive, especially in large classes where students typically feel unseen andunheard. This sets a tone of caring as, historically, faculty do not often ask their studentsabout their general concerns or issues. Another way to use these surveys is to identify gaps in student knowledge that needto be

professors had a very short amount oftime to learn and then teach the courses online, not in the traditional way. This change in methodwas not an easy transition, and in the beginning, students and the faculty struggled with it. Covid-19 pandemicOn January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization designated the Covid -19 virus as a publichealth emergency of international concern, and on March 11, 2020, the infectious disease hasdeclared a pandemic [4]. Covid -19 was first classified as a zoonotic disease, meaning that it canbe transmitted from an animal host such as a bat to a human. Covid -19 caused almost 820,000deaths in the United States and 5,595,590 deaths overall in the world

described the least number of issues related to the transition to and from remoteor hybrid learning. For example, one freshman stated, “COVID-19 hasn't affected my college life.”(Freshman, EE, SBCOMP=3.0). and another stated that their experience “[…]stayed the same”(Freshman, CS, SBCOMP=3.5). Qualitatively, Sophomores and Juniors described similar experienceswith difficulties adjusting academically and socially. These students were more concerned with howtheir professional future will be impacted. For example, one student stated, “My experience feelswasted in a sense because of the pandemic. My lack of ability to get hands on experience within alab in school has drastically impacted my possibilities of getting an internship. […] [This] makes

line with Ignelzi and Kegans theorization of meaning-making outlined in our theoreticalunderpinning, we recommend that faculty integrate such competencies into engineering courseworkin a manner that does not contribute to students’ feeling “in over their heads4, 31”. In scaffolding thisdevelopmental transition, as Ignelzi phrased it, students must be provided with levels of support andchallenge that are analogous33. Such equilibrium is crucial for advancing students’ competency andtheir ability to metacognitively make-meaning of their development. By encouraging incremental, albeit strategic, introductions of entrepreneurship concepts into undergraduate engineeringcurriculum, it is likely to mitigate concerns about coursework extensions and/or
