scholarship model alsoprovided a reason to cover financial wellness because as mentioned previously, each student’saward is based on their financial need, and not every student is fully funded with the award. Thisputs finances in the forefront for some students as they need to create a plan for paying theirbalance each semester. Additionally, once students continue to their second year and pursue off-campus living, students will be responsible for managing their housing allowance to take care oftheir basic needs. The students’ experiences have served as the perfect model to learn aboutfinancial wellness in a hands-on and directly applicable way.The seminars are designed to engage students in building relationships and community so thatstudents may
project wasthe biggest issue faced by the students. Not all students' final mini-worlds maintained the sametheme as their proposals. One group of students quickly revised their plans after submitting theirproposals, which they claimed was due to realizing they did not have enough time to completetheir original designs. Another group of students completely revised their theme by midterm, stating that they realized that their previous theme was overlapping with another group. In addition, we noticed that students were extremely enthusiastic about the projects at thebeginning of the semester, but the lack of skills may have led to their frustration. For the firstcouple of weeks, many students were not able to complete the designs they wanted due to

Acrosssections, it was clear that students were mentored differently on different elements (e.g., morecomplete economics description or not, however all mentioned safety). The three student teamsrecognized as winners in Fall 2023 were each selected from different sections (and not sectionsof the three authors who were also judged). It was great to see students map sustainability ideasto all projects - not just those with obvious environmental applications. Future changes in therubric are planned and discussions are underway to decide whether or not to share the
primary aim of WSU’s summer bridge program is to attract futurehigh school age students from our local area, to help them and their families become familiarwith our campus, and to help them to gain confidence in their ability to succeed in a college 5setting. We plan to recruit high school students from our local community, working to targetprospective first-generation students, students from economically disadvantaged families, andacademically underprepared students. The program will consist of the students taking college-level classes on campus at an accelerated pace (7 weeks). Classes have been carefully selectedthat will either prepare students
informeddecisions about their major by providing a tangible glimpse into the day-to-day activities ofengineering students.Hands-OnEmphasizing an experiential learning approach, the course required students to engage directlywith a suite of technologies and materials. This included programming in Python, assemblingmicrocontrollers with various inputs and outputs, and utilizing 3D computer-aided designsoftware for drawing and planning. Additive manufacturing processes were explored, and arange of hand tools—such as saws, knives, and drills—were employed alongside everydaycreative materials such as glue, string, cardboard, wood, and metal to bring their designs tofruition. Students sometimes worked individually, and other times in teams. They were given
