robotwas used for about 25 years to teach undergraduate engineering students robotics concepts andapplications. Originally, the robot’s controller was connected via a 9-pin serial port to an Intel8088-based PC. The PC communicated with the robot via Q-Basic programming language runningunder the Disk Operating System (DOS). One group of students was exposed to two phases ofdevelopment, DosBox and MATLAB environments running in Windows 7 64-bit. A culminating document is required in the form of a laboratory report. Teams are required to work together to solve the two labs. study was conducted.For the first cohort of students, pre- and post-presentation web-based surveys were send to alltwelve students enrolled in Honors Introduction to Engineering. The Preliminary Survey focusedon the extent of students’ project preparation, along with their outlook and perceptions ofservice-learning.
