In orderto minimize hardware such as hinges, the door to the dehydrator utilizes notching in theplywood to function as a sliding door. The second component of the dehydrator is the hotbox, which is constructed of plywood and a transparent acrylic sheet. This helpedto set the context for student reflection and discussion on some of the potential ethical anddistribute justice dimensions of AV technology. A simple question was posed to the students toorganize some of the broader sociopolitical and economic ramifications of AV development andadoption. activities in the course includes project updates or status reports, preliminaryproject report and oral presentation, and final project report and poster presentation. All thewriting activities are connected to the design problem. Iterations and revisions of their work arerequired. The process of returning to the same core of information for each of the reports andpresentations encouraged the students to reflect upon the feedback and evaluation given andaddress challenging issues in the current report or presentation they were working on. We regularly remind students that one of our responsibilities is tohelp them execute their initiatives to the highest professional level possible. The length and complexity of these agreements should fit withinpredefined categories reflecting the nature of the project for which they are to be used for.
