He made a case, based on a review of the empirical evidence, that active learningtechniques that allow students to work together (e.g. cooperative and collaborative learning)were well worth the effort for engineering faculty. The advantage to students learning in theseenvironments is not solely manifested in increases in achievement, but also in professional skill-building.
