Additionally, they felt that seeing projectsacross both disciplines throughout the semester improved their engineering learning (Mean =4.3/5) and improved their own team’s project (Mean = 3.8/5). These results suggest that theintended objectives of this course structure were largely achieved within this initial pool ofstudents.IntroductionFrancis Marion University, a small primarily undergraduate university, is home to twoengineering programs in industrial and mechanical engineering. As part of the curriculum, eachprogram requires an engineering senior design course in their respective disciplines. Teams ofstudents are assigned a unique project, which is sponsored by a local industry partner.Traditionally, the senior design courses for

Thirty essays written byengineering undergraduate students on the topic of waste electronics are randomly selected froma large sample of more than 250 essays collected from two higher education institutions in theUnited States. The essays are evaluated qualitatively using two different rubrics, one structuredto assess ethical literacy and the other structured to assess critical thinking. Results show awide range of patterns (nine) in the application of critical thinking to writing about ethicaldilemmas and a much smaller number of patterns (four) in ethical literacy expressed in theseessays. Whilewriting programs is far superior in helping the student learn robotics, it is not always feasibleespecially at institutions that do not have a software intensive program such as a roboticsprogram. For example in the Systems Engineering Program at Texas A&M InternationalUniversity programming is a very small part of the engineering curriculum where students arenot expected to be able to create whole programs yet they still offer the robotics course asrequired for the major. It is not reasonable to add learning how to program to the robotics coursecontents. This course in the Systems Engineering Program was the initial motivation for creatingour tool

These issues are not raised in most currentcourses on mechanics of materials.Even metals, when subject to sufficiently large loading as in metal forming and otherapplications, undergo ―plastic‖ response and suffer permanent set. Depending on the load and theparticular metal in question, the body under consideration can undergo large deformations andthe ―small strain‖ theories presented in most widely-used textbooks are inadequate. Business school faculty andPhD students are, in comparison to engineering school faculty and students and despite theirlocation within the business school, largely immune from the pressures of commercial success. With that immunity, the path of least resistance for entrepreneurship education is clearly the Page 12.484.4business school. The metrics of “success” for the entrepreneurship curriculum will be alignedwith the metrics of success of the business school. As the business school in general is notconcerned with commercial impact or success, the entrepreneurship programs in businessschools similarly lack this imperative. The business school
