A typical course covers a wide range of topics, startingwith integrated circuit processing, device physics, transistor characteristics, layout rules,common circuit structures, timing and power dissipation, and the use of CAD tools toproduce chip designs. Given the broad coverage of material in such a course, it isdifficult to adequately cover the details of how each CAD tool operates.
