. c American Society for Engineering Education, 2019 Wireless Sensor Networks in Smart and Secure HomesAbstractRecent advances in wireless networks and electronics have led to the emergence of WirelessSensor networks (WSNs). These networks consist of small battery–powered motors with limitedcomputation and radio communication capabilities. Each sensor in a sensor network consists ofthree subsystems: the sensor subsystem which senses the environment, the processing subsystemwhich performs local computations on the sensed data, and the communication subsystem whichis responsible for message exchanges with neighboring sensors. WSNs comprise tiny wirelesscomputers that sense, process, and communicate environmental stimuli, including

experience andprepare them for work. Like many engineering programs, students at Utah Valley University(UVU) complete their requirements for graduation with a semester long capstone design projectcourse. The intention of this course is to apply competencies gained during their first three yearstoward the solution of an embedded system design problem.Educational excellence requires exposing students to the current edge of research. To ensure thatstudent projects are along the same trajectory that the industry is moving, educators continuallyintroduce emerging techniques, practices, and applications into the curriculum. Advances inwireless sensors have opened new opportunities in healthcare systems. Sensor-based technologyhas invaded medical devices

initial evaluation of a new technological educational tool such as SEP-CyLE is the perspectives of student users. The purpose of this study was to explore the thoughtsand perceptions of students who used SEP-CyLE in their computer science courses. This qualitative study will address the following research questions: • Research Question Number 1: What do students think about SEP-CyLE and the three learning engagement strategies? • Research Question Number 2: What strategies for implementing SEP-CyLE in a course are most effective? • Research Question Number 3: What do students think about how SEP-CyLE should be used in a course?Answers to the above research questions can inform educators in successfully implementingSEP-CyLE

The author begansearching for delivery tools and methods that might shorten the time needed for problem review, and allow students to grasp the problem-solving concepts even given a decreased number ofassigned problems. Computer-assisted instruction offered a number of possibilities. Kadiyala and Crynes1offered an extensive literature review on the effectiveness of using information technology ineducation, and found that such use enhances learning when the pedagogy is sound andtechnology and techniques match the learning objectives. building. While resource-intensive, organizational culture change approaches can inform the WDNR project. One prominent consultant perhaps best captures the WDNR's desire for an adaptable, innovative organization by suggesting a change-capable organization7. She says that the qualities of change-friendly organization are: link the present and the future, make learning a way of life, support and encourage day-to-day improvements, ensure diverse teams, encourage mavericks, shelter breakthroughs, integrate technology, and build and deepen trust. A review of these characteristics reinforced the focus by investigators on organizational learning and community building. Organizational Learning
