As an advantage over retrofitting an existing treadmill, the custom treadmill allows forthe incorporation of all NeuroHope’s requirements. Ongoing efforts include prototyping, testing,and iterating different treadmill base designs that will allow for trainers to swap out multipledifferent types of tread, including a turf tread as well as a foam tread to mimic a variety ofwalking surfaces one might encounter on their day-to-day activities. © American Society for Engineering Education, 2021
