. Poor agreement between the refrigerant-side and air-side measurementsshowed the instruments needed to be calibrated or replaced. Second, the overall heat transfer coefficient (U) for the selected operating condition wasdetermined. The data from the experiment was fed into a computer analysis program developedby an upperclassman as part of an independent study project. The program calculated the finefficiency to adjust the area of the fins to an equivalent area. For the course, a student could earn up to 2000points in graded material, consisting of quizzes, problem sets, a course-wide project, andexaminations.
