The safety coordinator’s job is to educate professionally,collaborate and form partnerships with everyone in the department. Since the foundation ofengineering safety is personal safety intelligence, the U of A Chemical Engineering Departmentfocused initially on better training methods for OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom) and our own U of A Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP). The department invested in trainingfor the safety coordinator on all aspects of OSHA’s new GHS Haz Com standard, wastemanagement and emergency response. Figure 1 shows the motor speed produced as the dynamometer increases the load torque until motor stall or pullout. Peak torques is achieved between 1200 to 1780 RPM. Figure 2 indicates the peak 146 A current demand is at 1780 RPM producing a maximum torque of 150 Nm.
