The strong emphasis on laboratoryexperiences in Engineering Technology curricula supports active learning styles. Contrary topopular anecdote, these results indicate that students do not exhibit a strong preference for activelearning over reflective learning at the early stages of their undergraduate academic career. Thissuggests that active learning experiences including laboratory exercises and interactive problemsessions may provide a slight learning advantage over reflective activities (homework, reports)for students at this stage.
