Canan Bilen-Green is Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and Equity at North Dakota State University. She is also Dale Hogoboom Professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wyoming. She holds additional degrees from Middle East Technical University (B.S.), Bilkent University (M.S.), and University of Wyoming (M.S.). Dr. Bilen-Green’s primary teaching and research interest is in quality engineering and management of people systems. She served as lead investigator and director of the National Science Foundation funded ADVANCE FORWARD Institutional Transformation program and the ADVOCATE FORWARD PLAN-D partnership project. Dr. Bilen-Green formed, led, and/or served on various institutional committees including Commission of the Status of Women Faculty, Women with Disabilities Task Force, Promotion to Professor Task Force, and the NDSU Childcare Center Committee.
Cali L. Anicha, PhD, is currently a Research Associate with NDSU ADVANCE and has worked as a teacher in the public schools and as a university adjunct instructor. She is engaged in a range of community and education-based equity and justice efforts, and has worked with the NDSU ADVANCE team since 2010.
Brianna Blaser, associate director of AccessADVANCE, is a part of the DO-IT Center at UW where she works to increase the participation of people with disabilities in science and engineering careers. Her work includes direct interventions for students with disabilities and working with faculty, employers, and other stakeholders to create institutional change. Brianna has a PhD in women studies from UW and a background in broadening participation and career development in science and engineering fields. Before joining DO-IT, she was the project director for the AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) Science Careers Outreach Program.

Teresa Shume, Ph.D. is an associate professor in the School of Education at North Dakota State University. She has worked as a high school science teacher, university biology instructor, science teacher educator, and science education consultant. Her teaching and research focus on preparation of science teachers committed to inclusiveness and making science accessible to all.
Despite over two decades of work looking at ways to increase diversity among science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) faculty, little has been done to increase the representation of faculty with disabilities. Moreover, despite recent attention to increasing the participation of students with disabilities in STEM education, this work has rarely been extended to include faculty with disabilities. This paper describes efforts taken by AccessADVANCE, a partnership between two institutions, to influence institutional change to increase the participation of women with disabilities among STEM faculty. Faculty and student successes are interrelated; the goal of AccessADVANCE is to identify effective interventions for systematically addressing issues impacting the career advancement and success of academic women with disabilities. In this paper we share lessons learned regarding policies, practices, and professional development efforts designed to reduce structural and workplace barriers and to make academic STEM careers more welcoming and accessible to women with disabilities.
