An assessment of engineering technology bachelor’s degree program governance models has been initiated to determine rules of operation and engagement in the development and operation of these degreed programs. The investigation into program governance models will focus on the role of industry advisory boards and their impact on experiential learning, student curricula and competencies, financial support for equipment and programming and overall program administration. Specific case studies are analyzed from established, ABET-accredited institutions to determine best practices in integrating and aligning student outcomes with industry needs. The purpose of this paper is to communicate to the engineering technology community regarding degree program governance models and industry advisory boards’ (IAB) level of contribution to governance as related to the overall implementation and success of these programs.
