Transitioning a lab-based course to an online format: Strategies for successLab-based courses are generally not available in an online format because of the need forexpensive lab equipment, time consuming technical assistance, and troubleshooting. Increase indemand for online instruction extends past current pedagogical methods and the addition of a labcomponent compounds this difficulty. In our first paper, " Transitioning a lab-based course toan online format", we presented the development of our pedagogical framework. Thisframework is based on our 2010 online course and previous studies in online education. In thissubsequent paper, we complete our study by evaluating the results of our 2011 online circuitscourse and finalize our framework. In this paper, we present our finalized pedagogical framework specifically tailored forengineering students in an online environment. This pedagogical framework is well suited as astarting point for instructors looking to explore online education. The development andrefinement process of the framework are explored in depth. Suggestions for implementing thisframework and insight into issues that may arise are explored. Data validating equivalent orimproved student engagement and performance are presented.
